Spoiler Alert -- Tony didn't die.
As a fan of the show from Day 1 -- I didn't want to see Tony get whacked during the finale. Both of his families are intact. They are dysfunctional and crazy, but intact. This series has been phenomenal and this "life goes on" ending was a perfect way to take it. The Sopranos was unlike any other show on TV -- why would it end with a blockbuster final show where everyone either dies or goes into witness protection?
This is the way it needed to be. The show has been like this from the beginning. New characters pop up and they have a large role in the show, story-lines are dropped and brought back up without consideration for people who may not have seen Season 4, Episode 3. I love it that way.
We got rewarded for watching this thing from the start. Phil is dead. Harpo changed his name. A.J. blew up his SUV. Meadow is going into law, but her friend Hunter is going to be a doctor. Agent Harris is human and has lots and lots of human flaws. Paulie proves cats are evil and nobody listens to him. Tony and Uncle Junior finally talked -- Junior is out of it. Tony could be going to jail because Carlo flipped. Sil is probably dead but he was loyal to Tony and the family til the end.
There is more but I mean...what more do you want? Great ending. Great series. It's going to be a great movie.

I am more convinced now than ever that the ending was designed to be tony's death scene. black and silent and you never see it coming. did chase leave a little door open? sure. but I think he thinks tony was shot.
okay, but then who ordered the hit? why?
ugh. . .it's over people, let it go already. ..
