Fire Tim Brewster.

It’s jeezo beezo all over again -- and Gopher Nation mourns.

For those who thought Tim Brewster was the answer – I am here to tell you... he isn't. Unless the question is "who will be the first Minnesota coach fired in 2008?"

Sure, we here at Cold Omaha have been called some of the "dumbest blogger(s) in the history of the internet" but we think Brewster is terrible and he is in completely over his head.

I don't care if he can recruit. He can't coach. He can't motivate.

At some point some of these "4 Star" recruits are going to flip-flop and sign someplace else because even a 17-year-old kid is going to pick up the fact that Brewster is simply a rah-rah guy who shouldn't be running a Division 1 program.

Recruiting is a great skill and it can't be overlooked. But he is getting his team BLOWN-OUT on a consistent basis and his team never looks ready. Tell me how recruiting is going to make that better.

The folks at www.firebrewster.blogspot.com have it right.

He has to go.

They'd have to sign him to a 4 year extension before they'd fire him.

Does Sid Hartman know about this web page?

Not sure what shicken shit is, but I don't think you can make chicken salad out of it. And, the word is spelled appetite not appetit. If you are going to be insulting to bloggers, at least find a way to not sound like a complete idiot. To that point, why are you reading it and worse still – why are you reacting to it if it has no merit?

Glen Mason wasn't exactly Bud Grant, but he was never over his head the way Tim Brewster is right now. Dan Monson wasn’t over his head as much as Brewster is right now. It might get better. It can’t get worse.

Firing Tim Brewster has been said tongue-in-cheek and obviously wouldn’t be a smart move at this point since he is only in his first year. But making excuses for him by saying he inherited a shitty team or saying he has shown anything even resembling competency -- is also not all that bright and it is, in fact, inaccurate.

Now go ahead and give him a call – let him know his family still loves him even if he couldn’t coach his way to a MIAC Championship.

You might be the dumbest blogger in the history of the internet.

He can't coach this crappy talent? It it his fault that Glen Mason left him with college football's worst defense? Is it Brewster's fault that three defensive starters (from an already terrible defense) can't keep their pants on?

He can't recruit? How can you say that before he even completes his first full recruiting season.

Rivals.com currently has the Gopher's ranked 32nd in the Nation for the '08 recruiting class... he can't recruit????

He already has more 4 star recruits (3) committed this year than Mason had in his last 4 recruiting classes!!

What an asinine blog

Maybe the U should've held on to Mason one more year, then glommed on to the Michigan guy who evidently soon will be available. (Well, at least we Gopher fans don't have to fret this year about the threat of ending up at the Motor City Bowl.)

Those 3 and 4 star recruits can't coach themselves. Brewster sucks.

Well, I guess you might want to get your apology put together.

While lots of games are left 5-1 is a good start. 7-5 is reachable.

Oh, and the guy who started the Fire Tim Brewster blog took it down this week.

Go Gophers.

I've heard the old timers spin yarns about a national championship in 1960, but I can't find many folks alive that can verify that story.

Gopher football is soft. As a 90's alum, I endured the homecomings and trophy-game losses of Jim Wacker (the guy before Glen Mason for all you kids out there). This isn't a coach problem, it's an institutionalized problem. Marinating in decades of losing doesn't wash off. The coach, the student body, a new stadium can't fix a half-century of losing.

The Big Ten has football schools like Ohio State and Michigan. They have basketball schools like Indiana. We are a hockey school. Sell your football tickets and get Gopher hockey tickets folks, it's what we do well.

The guy who took down the "Fire Tim Brewster" site had no business doing so. It was premature, as was the talk of an extension. NO trophy game wins. Completely hopeless against upper division teams in a Big Ten you could charitably call "down". Utterly helpless against Iowa last year. I've got a fever, and the only prescription is more Brew Crew Gopher Football!
